Green Acres

Contains: Greenfields

A quiet location within the city limits, many of the Green Acres homes built in the late 1940s and early 1950s have seen revitalization with the arrival of younger families. Primarily consisting of medium-sized (three or four bedroom) to small (studio to two bedroom) single family homes, townhomes and small apartment buildings, there are wide roads and great sidewalks leading to the neighborhood elementary school — the location of one of the favorite playgrounds of Kingsport’s children. Green Acres has robust businesses and lots of food options from which to choose. Former Congressman Jimmy Quillen once lived in a home with nine bathrooms in this neighborhood while he served the First District for 17 terms and afterward; until his death in 2003.
